But also, keep in mind that there is a lot that we don’t know about the true safety of CBD, and the mechanisms on how it works in the body.

There is now more interest than ever of the benefits, and the changes to the laws of cannabis that are happening within the world, with more and more research aiming at understanding the major CBD ingredients, and also some of the clinical studies. Right now, we know a few things:

  1. The animal studies determine CBD is safe and tolerated
  2. It can have side effects though such as changes to weight and appetite, tiredness, and diarrhea, and occasionally dry mouth.
  3. It might have some of the different enzymes within this competing for it if you’re taking other medications that interact, so we don’t know the full relationship as of yet.

So right now, CBD in CBD oil is considered safe.

Using CBD Oil

CBD is usually taken in tinctures or oil, or in the form of edibles such as gummies that the liver and the digestive tract are able to process. Some have also started to vape or use it topically to help with inflammation.

CBD is not something that affects the CB1 and CB2 receptors, but it can work with the following:

  • The serotonin receptors
  • Gamma receptors
  • Orphan receptors
  • Capsaicin receptors

It also may be a reuptake inhibitor, so it will interrupt the metabolism of such.

With this said, there are a lot of different mechanisms that go into this, and the administration of this does differ in some cases.

There are different bioavailability to consider as well, including the onset and how long it takes for it to reach peak effectiveness.

Choosing Safe CBD

So what’s the best way to choose the right CBD?

Well, it’s safe to say that getting it from a retailer is something that’s best done. You want it from a person who is able to properly tell you what’s inside, if it’s been tested by a third party lab, and also, you want to make sure the company is legitimate too.
